Sanskrit: “of the goddess of learning”
Jupiter, Venus and Mercury all placed in kendras, trikonas or the 2nd house, with Jupiter strong — in its own, exalted or friendly sign.
All three benefics must fall in the set {1, 2, 4, 5, 7, 9, 10} — the kendras, the trikonas and the 2nd house of speech. They need not be together. The additional requirement on Jupiter is what does most of the work: Jupiter in a neutral or enemy sign disqualifies the yoga even when the placements are correct.
Scholarship, eloquence and creative or literary capacity; traditionally the yoga of writers, teachers and those whose standing rests on knowledge.
Strongest when Jupiter is in Sagittarius, Pisces or Cancer and at least one of the three occupies the 2nd or the 5th, the houses of speech and intelligence. The involvement of the 2nd house is what distinguishes Saraswati from a generic benefic-placement yoga.
Combustion of Mercury or Venus, both of which stay close to the Sun, is the most frequent practical spoiler. Heavy malefic aspect on Jupiter undermines the strength requirement even where the sign qualifies.
Read during the dashas of the three participating planets, and most visibly in Jupiter and Mercury periods. Since Venus, Mercury and Jupiter dashas together run fifty-three of the one hundred and twenty years in the Vimshottari cycle, carriers usually get a substantial activation window.
Sources differ on whether the 2nd house belongs in the qualifying set or whether kendras and trikonas alone suffice. Some also require Mercury to be unafflicted, applying the same standard used in Amala Yoga.
A demanding condition that genuinely is uncommon, since it requires three specific planets to be well placed simultaneously. Worth checking properly rather than assuming.

Create your free kundliA note on how to hold any of this: a yoga is one feature of a chart among many, and no combination decides a life on its own. Classical texts frequently disagree on exact conditions, and a yoga’s effects are traditionally read as arriving during the dasha periods of the planets involved rather than continuously. Be particularly wary of any reading that names a difficult yoga and then offers to sell you the cure.
